HOLLOW : CATERPILLAR
Music is pure emotion for me, it can instantly lift my mood or completely break it. It fuels my imagination, and as a visual storyteller, that means music naturally creates images in my mind. I don’t think in words, I think in visuals.
For years, I’ve wanted to make videos for the music I love, but the process always felt like too much of a hassle. Big ideas usually need big teams, and since music videos are often passion projects, pulling them off takes a lot of effort, not just from me, but from talented friends and colleagues willing to help bring a director’s vision to life. More often than I’d like, that stopped me from actually making them.
But with generative AI, everything changes. No big crews, no endless meetings, no producers, no VFX teams, no post-production headaches, and no one saying, “That’s impossible” or “We don’t have the budget.” Just me, my MacBook, a headset, and the freedom to pull an all-nighter whenever I feel like it. AI isn’t fully controllable yet, but it won’t be long before it is. In the meantime, I’m loving the unpredictable, dreamlike state AI is in right now, it matches how my mind works.
This video came together over four long evenings. No post-production, no VFX, no color grading—just raw AI-generated footage from Pika and Runway, stitched together with some good old-fashioned editing.
Some say AI-generated visuals have no soul. Maybe they’re right... 😉
